Welcome to the Learning Curve

The Learning Curve™ Coffee & Craft Shop was opened in Talbot Green on 14th February 2005. With its homely ambience and friendly welcome, the coffee shop has proved to be a popular success with the locals.

The concept was developed to introduce individuals with learning difficulties to a real work situation and the opportunity to learn new skills and build self-esteem, whilst simultaneously running and maintaining a successful coffee shop.

The idea was initiated by Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council and implemented by Q Care Ltd. On 14th February 2005, after a lot of hard work, time and effort, the two organisations were proud to cut the ribbon of the newly opened Learning Curve™ Coffee & Craft Shop!

That's right! On Tuesday 14th February 2006, The Learning Curve™ celebrates its 1st birthday!

From the moment it opened its doors for the first time, one year ago, it has been full steam ahead for everyone involved in the project.

Managers and trainees have worked together to provide a friendly, welcoming service for customers. With an average of 14,000 coffees and 15,000 snacks being sold throughout last year, it is safe to say the excellent service has been more than appreciated by the coffee shops many regular customers.

So far, the project has successfully trained 20 individuals. With their knowledge of food retail and a boost of self esteem, 12 of these trainees have moved on to new working ventures within the comnmunity. Four of which have already found paid, part time work in nursing homes, kitchens and bakeries.

Learning Curve™ would like to thank all its customers who have made its first year a successful one. Without you, we would not be able to look forward to an exciting second year!
