Focusing on the outcomes that are important to you

Our service is always focused on what is important to you. We believe in a truly personal approach that enables people with a sensory impairment to live independently by providing support and access to necessary services, benefits, groups and advice.

We will work with you to create a support plan designed to meet your aims and endeavour to deliver the outcomes you require.

Who are we able to support?

We are able to support:

  • people who are deaf or have a hearing impairment
  • people with sight loss or visual impairment
  • people with a hearing and visual impairment
  • parents of a child who has a hearing or visual impairment

Supporting you to make your life easier

As well as being fluent in British Sign Language, our Supporting People team are fully trained to understand and cater for the needs of people with a sensory impairment or loss and can offer support with the following:

General Support

  • Liaison with statutory and voluntary services
  • Signposting to specific legal services
  • Signposting to local community organisations
  • Accompanying for housing related errands
  • Advice, advocacy and liaison
  • Help gaining access to other services

Housing Needs

  • Help finding other accommodation
  • Help setting up and maintaining home or tenancy


  • Help establishing personal safety and security


  • Supervision and monitoring of health and well-being
  • Liaising with health professionals and support with appointments

Mental Health

  • Emotional support, listening and advice
  • Supervision and monitoring of health and well-being


  • Help managing finances and benefit claims
  • Signposting to local community organisations e.g. Citizens Advice Bureau, Employment Training


  • Facilitating social interaction and overcoming social isolation
  • Developing social skills/behaviour
  • Peer support

Family and Home

  • Advice and support on home improvement work
  • Help maintaining the safety and security of the dwelling
  • Developing domestic/life skills
  • Home risk assessment
