Peripatetic Sensory Support Worker

£21,000 /annum + business mileage & employee perks.

 

Q Care is looking for an experienced Person to manage our Supporting People Team

You’ll work with our team providing community based support, supporting adults with a sensory loss to achieve the goals and aspirations they want while living independently in Gloucestershire.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and allocate referrals. Maintain a waiting list as required, monitor staff workload to ensure effective service user support.
  • Manage own caseload.
  • Lead a team of support workers providing support for people with sensory loss.
  • Recruit, induct and train new staff. Organize ongoing training relevant to the team and ensure this is kept up to date.
  • Carry out regular supervisions, appraisals and team meetings. Monitor timesheets, expenses, holiday and sickness records to ensure accurate information for payroll and KPI reporting.
  • Attend meetings internally within the company and with external agencies.
  • Monitor and review services provided, taking into account service user views and suggest ways to improve the service.
  • Provide regular reports to line manager
  • Be responsible for the review and KPI process for GCC including timely reporting and attending meetings with commissioners.

 

  • To support people to help them retain and improve their independence.
  • To carry out risk assessments, and in collaboration with people using our services, to create a support plan for them and then work towards achieving it.
  • To facilitate people accessing information and achieving positive change. E.g. Benefits, budgeting, debt management, training, health etc.
  • To act as an advocate.
  • To liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies and signpost as required.

Due to the requirements and needs of the people we support, this role may very occasionally require you to work an evening or a weekend.

This role requires you to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. Cost shared between applicant and Q Care Ltd

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of British Sign Language as a native user, or to Level 2.
  • Drivers License and use of a vehicle for work purposes, as this role requires regular travel to various locations across Gloucestershire.
  • Great communicator, who enjoys conversation and getting to know people.
  • Great listener, who gives people their full attention whilst understanding and supporting them.
  • Responsible worker who is comfortable working without supervision and is an excellent time manager.
  • An excellent multitasker who has great attention to detail.
  • To be able to record and communicate important information timely and accurately in line with GDPR regulations

I haven’t worked in care before. Can I still apply to be a Support Worker?

Most definitely. Although it would be an advantage to have some experience of care work, it isn’t mandatory. We provide full training. What we look for is the right personality and the right attitude.

Do I need to drive to work as a Support Worker?

The short answer is no, although it can depend on the vacancy. Some positions allow the Support Worker to walk or use public transport to get to calls. Alternatively, Support Workers can work together so you might ride as a passenger in one of our Company vehicles. However, these vacancies are not available year round, so please check the specific job requirements, as we will always make it clear whether or not you need a driving licence.

How do I get to drive one of your Company pool cars?

Each car is scheduled on certain runs during the day. If your work pattern matches one of our company car runs, you'll be able to use it.

What hours will I work as a Support Worker?

Support Workers’ hours vary, and we will try to be as flexible as possible in order to suit your preference. At your interview we will ask you for your availability, meaning the hours you choose to work within our defined patterns.
